*How to choose a good quality dog food:  Foods that have a high corn or grain content are
not readily digestible and may produce upset stomach and diarrhea.  When choosing a dog
food, look at the ingredients to insure that the first ingredients are meat products.  Dogs do
need grains, although corn is not as digestible as rice and wheat.  The best grains for dogs
(when used in the proper percentages) are rolled oats, barley, quinoa, millet, and brown rice.
Not sure about what to buy, monetary donations will also be accepted.  Just let us know you
are contributing to the "Pet Food Fund".

Puppy Rescue Story
Well, folks, this has been a week of great need for animals in our community!  Yet, another call has come in this morning
asking for help for a dog needing immediate surgery.  This time it is a purebred Boxer that will die without the surgery.
The owner got a quote from one clinic and is getting another one this afternoon and is to let us know what the amount will
be.  This animal deserves a chance to have a happy life.  This lady rescued this dog from a neglectful owner.  This dog is
having to have surgery because of the previous owners neglect.  Please make it possible for this dog to get the help it
needs.  Donate as soon as possible.  It is only through community support through donations that we can do our job as a
Humane Society.  Please help us continue helping these animals.

Again, Donations can be sent through PayPal by logging on to
www.je923.com and clicking on the PayPal link or you may
send a check to WCHS to P.O. Box 362, Wytheville, VA 24382.

Thank you!!!

THE NEED IS EVEN GREATER AT THIS TIME.  A CALL JUST CAME IN FROM A LADY WHO WAS IN TEARS WITH A
SERIOUSLY ILL WEIMARANER AND DOES NOT HAVE THE MONEY PAY FOR HIS VET CARE.  THE DOG HAS NOT
EATEN FOR 2-3 DAYS AND HAS VOMITING AND DIARHEA.   WE WILL ALSO NEED TO HELP THIS DOG GET THE VET
CARE IT NEEDS BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE.  SHE IS TAKING IT IN TO THE VET TODAY.  PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN!

(UPDATE!  Due to a very generous and caring contributor, this dog is now receiving the vet care it needs!)

Subject: Help needed ASAP....

The Wythe County Humane Society is currently having to cover the vet care of a little pom that had to have emergency
surgery. At the present, WCHS needs monetary donations to help cover these expenses. If any of you can help, please
go to
www.je923.com to donate through PayPal or send check donations to WCHS, P.O. Box 362, Wytheville, VA 24382.
Please help if you can. Helping those in need in one of the things we do and cannot continue to do so without your help.
Due to the economy, there are many folks out there that have needed our help and in many cases we have to pull from
our own pockets to help too. Please help if you can!

Thank you!
