This is why it is important to have your dog spayed or neutered!

The American Humane Association says more than 30 million puppies and kittens are born in
the U.S. each year, but only 1 in 10 will find a permanent home. The rest will die of cruelty,
starvation, disease, poisoning, or accidents, or they end up in a shelter. Less than 35% of
shelter animals are adopted. Some 6 - 8 million adoptable dogs and cats were euthanized last
year. This is mainly due to pets not being spayed or neutered, and people who abandon or give
up pets because of lack of commitment to training the pet. Having pets spayed or neutered is
the way to reduce this tragedy. Communities that have established sterilization programs have
seen the number of pets euthanized drop by 30 to 60%.
