| The Wythe County Animal Shelter can euthanize these animals as soon as they reach their adoption date. Call them as soon as you see the picture and let them know if you are interested. Dogs are available for adoption on this page from the Wythe Co. Animal shelter for people living in Wythe, Bland, Smyth, Pulaski, Carol and Grayson counties. Dogs that have been spayed or neutered can be adopted from anywhere, unless otherwise noted dogs are not spayed or neutered. If you are outside these areas contact Ruthie Murray at petsinperil@yahoo.com If you have a lost dog, contact the Animal Shelter immediately!! Don't wait or it may be to late. |

| A Message from the Wythe County Humane Society: Please have your animals spayed and neutered. Hundreds of unwanted puppies and kittens are turned over to the Wythe County Humane Society and Wythe County Animal Shelter each year. Help reduce that number by doing the right thing. Spay and neuter your animals.... Here are a couple lower cost options: Margaret B. Mitchell Spay & Neuter Clinic (Located just off exit 10 on the western edge of Abingdon) 16222 Lee Highway Bristol, VA 276.591.5790 All dogs: $60.00 Female cats: $55.00 Male cats: $40.00 Shots: $10.00 For more information, visit: http://www.mbmspayneuterclinic.org/services.php ____________________________________________________________________________ PetFix Coalition P.O. Box 37 Crozier, VA 23039 1-888-738-3491 (1-888-PET FIX1) Check with your vet for participation in the PetFix program. (Wythe County Animal Clinic and Community Animal Clinic in Wytheville do participate, but there are also others outside Wytheville.) If your vet participates, set up your appointment, then send the PetFix Coalition the name and location of your vet along with your check (Dogs under 75 pounds are $60.00 and over 75 pounds are $75, female cats $40.00, male cats $30.00). You will receive a certificate for your animals spaying or neutering. This is all you will have to pay as long as the animals shots are up to date. Immunizations are not included in the cost of this certificate. |

| Pulaski County Animal Shelter took in 914 dogs in 2009. 483 were strays, 391 were owner surrenders. The others are misc, see the link. 187 were reclaimed, 264 were adopted, and 211 were transferred out. 235 were euthanized which means 25.7% were euthanized. Some misc. 72.4% were saved! Good job Pulaski! |
