| The Wythe County Animal Shelter can euthanize these animals as soon as they reach their adoption date. Call them as soon as you see the picture and let them know if you are interested. Dogs are available for adoption on this page from the Wythe Co. Animal shelter for people living in Wythe, Bland, Smyth, Pulaski, Carol and Grayson counties. Dogs that have been spayed or neutered can be adopted from anywhere, unless otherwise noted dogs are not spayed or neutered. If you are outside these areas contact Ruthie Murray at petsinperil@yahoo.com If you have a lost dog, contact the Animal Shelter immediately!! Don't wait or it may be to late. |

"A life threatening emergency exists when it has been confirmed in writing by a veterinarian that your pet will die or have to be humanely euthanized if care is not provided within five days from the date of diagnosis" http://www.imom.org/ They may be able to help if you qualify. |

| The Wythe County Humane Society is in desperate need an extra large Igloo or Barn type dog house. Other size dog houses would also be greatly appreciated. To donate a dog house, please call Pam Henley (276) 686-5090 or (276) 620-5091. |

| Here are the dates I received emails with pictures sent from the Wythe Co. Animal Shelter since January 2, 2009. I list all pictures sent to me. I have had to email and email to get pictures sent. If you do not see pictures updated within 7 days or if you feel that there is not enough pictures, feel free to contact the County Administrator's office at rcdalton@wytheco.org. I used to get pictures of 5 or more dogs per week with as many as 9 or more at times. Now 2-3 dogs are all that I am sent. I have offered several times to go down and take the pictures myself but was told they would do that. 53 dogs euthanized in the 1st quarter of this year(1/1/09 to 3/31/09)! That's around a 29.9% euth rate. See opinion |

| These dogs have only a slim chance. If not for the Wythe Humane Society the Euth rate would still be 70-80% at this shelter or worse if the people working there make no effort to help these animals. |
